July is full of powerful moments for awareness, education and celebration. From disability inclusion and gender diversity to youth empowerment and spiritual observance, here are the key EDI and religious dates to note this month – plus some links if you’d like to explore more…

Disability Pride Month
All of July
Disability Pride Month celebrates the diversity and resilience of the global disability community. Originating in the US in 1990 – the same year the Americans with Disabilities Act was passed – it’s now increasingly observed worldwide. The month encourages individuals and organisations to challenge ableism, uplift disabled voices, and create environments where everyone can thrive. Whether through talks, campaigns, or accessibility audits, it’s a powerful opportunity to reflect on inclusion in practice.

Asahna Bucha (Buddhism)
July 10th
Asahna Bucha is one of the most important Buddhist festivals, observed primarily in Thailand and other Theravāda Buddhist countries. It commemorates the day when the Buddha delivered his first sermon to his first five disciples after attaining enlightenment. The day is marked by visits to temples, candle-lit processions, acts of merit-making, and reflection on the core teachings of the Buddha: the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path.

International Non-Binary Persons Day
July 14th
This global awareness day celebrates people whose gender identity does not fit within the traditional binary of male or female. It’s a time to recognise the rich diversity of gender experiences and to support greater inclusion and visibility for non-binary individuals. Marking the midpoint between International Women’s Day and International Men’s Day, the date symbolises the existence of genders beyond the binary. Consider using the day to explore inclusive language, review policies, or amplify non-binary stories.

World Youth Skills Day
July 15th
Established by the United Nations, this day highlights the crucial role of technical and vocational education in preparing young people for meaningful employment and entrepreneurship. With youth unemployment and underemployment still global challenges, World Youth Skills Day promotes access to training and lifelong learning opportunities—especially in digital and green economies. It’s also a chance to spotlight the creativity, resilience, and potential of younger generations.

National Schizophrenia Awareness Day
July 25th
Led by the charity Rethink Mental Illness, this UK awareness day aims to break down stigma and raise understanding about schizophrenia—a severe, chronic mental health condition that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. The day is an important opportunity to listen to lived experiences, explore misconceptions, and promote better access to compassionate care and support. Employers and colleagues alike can use the day to reflect on how they support mental health and neurodiversity in the workplace.
We hope this guide helps you plan meaningful conversations and activities in the studio this July. Whether you’re learning something new, raising awareness, or taking action, every step counts towards a more inclusive and understanding world.
